Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat has a really interesting history. It was built by King Suryavarman II around a thousand years ago and was first dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It’s the biggest religious building in the whole world and now it’s one of the most significant Buddhist temples too. Because of Angkor Wat, Cambodia became a Buddhist country. That’s why it’s even on the Cambodian flag.
Seiganto-ji, Japan
This Buddhist temple in Wakayama Prefecture is called the Temple of the Blue Waves. It’s the first of 33 temples on the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage route. Legend has it that an Indian monk founded the temple in the Fourth Century A.D. It’s so important that UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 2004.
