9. Yurts, Inner Mongolia

For thousands of years, Mongolian tribes have used portable homes called yurts, which are ideal for their nomadic lifestyle. Yurts are unique houses with sloped roofs covered in animal pelts and a hole in the middle for the smoke from the stove to escape. They are well-suited to the needs of the Mongolian people.
10. Rumah Gadang, Sumatra, Indonesia

For many years, the Minangkabau people of Indonesia have used these unique houses with spiky roofs. Although nowadays they are mainly used for ceremonies, they were once traditional homes. These houses, called Rumah Gadang, are referred to as “big houses” and symbolize the maternalistic society of the Minangkabau people.
